Saturn: long-term residence and hard work abroad

Saturn is slow and stands for distance, labour and long-term structure. A chart may clearly show study abroad but only a weaker promise for settlement, in which case the person may return home after some years. Another chart may show little interest in education but strong 10th–12th links, so work becomes the route. An honest note: visas and PR are decided by documents, eligibility, language scores, funds and the immigration law of that country. Transits add a second layer. Jupiter or Saturn moving over the 12th or 9th house (counted from the lagna or the Moon) often coincides with applications, approvals or the actual move. Saturn entered Pisces on 29 March 2025 and is expected to move into Aries around 2027, so it is worth checking which of your houses Pisces occupies. Exact dates for your case need your own chart, so check the current transit against your dasha rather than going by a sign-wise forecast.

How to check videsh yog in your own kundli

You need an accurate birth chart (date, time and place of birth). Then go step by step:

Find the 12th house and its lord. Note which sign is in the 12th, which planet rules it, and where that planet sits.
Check the link with the lagna. Is the lagna lord in the 12th, the 12th lord in the lagna, or are they together, in aspect or in exchange? This is the strongest settlement pointer.
Look at the 9th and 4th houses. A 9th–12th link supports study or fortune abroad. A 4th lord in the 12th, or a 4th house hit by Saturn or Rahu, shows distance from the homeland.
Locate Rahu, the Moon and Saturn. Note whether they sit in or aspect the 12th, 9th, 7th or 4th, and whether the Moon is in a watery sign.
Repeat in the D9 Navamsa. If the same links show up in D9, the promise is firmer. For job-based moves, check the D10 Dashamsa too.
Check your running dasha. Is the Mahadasha or Antardasha lord connected to the 12th, 9th or Rahu? If not, the yoga may be waiting for a later period.

Myths about foreign settlement in astrology

“Rahu in the 12th means you will definitely settle abroad.” Not on its own. Rahu in the 12th raises the chance, but settlement needs support from the lagna, the 4th house and the dasha.
“No videsh yog means you can never go abroad.” A trip or a few years of study can happen with milder indications. The chart shows the strength and duration of the stay, not a simple yes or no.
